Thoughts

I was so filled with grief when I heard of Gus' passing. It took me quite a while to process the news! I had the honour and the pleasure to have Gus and Mari as my host parents on the IOW back in 1995 when I was appointed to Sandown as a language assistant. I enjoyed every minute of their scholarly conversations, remember their wise teachings and treasure the memories of their kind and welcoming hospitality. They made me feel HOME AWAY FROM HOME from the very first moment I set my foot on their threshold. Though very different, their warmheartedness made them one of a kind. Every Christmas season, I used to look forward to their Xmas card with Gus' witty summary of the year gone by. However, we stopped writing to each other and I lost their current address. When I uploaded a comment on Facebook to see if anyone could get me in touch with them again, a former student from Gus' broke the sad news to me. Thus, I would truly appreciate it if anyone could give me information on how to reach his wife Mari or Lucy, his daughter. Please contact me at : doloroca@gmail.com. "When I imagine you’ve left Even in the sun you show yourself to me And you’re the star that shines And you’re the wind that blows. If they sing, you are who is singing If they cry, you are who is crying And you are the murmur of the river And you are the night and the dawn. You’re in everything, and you are everything.
