Thank you, Lucy, for giving us the opportunity to get to know your father and to enjoy his company. Gus combined scholarship, sporting ability and erudite conversation with modesty and good humour. His eloquent speech at Lucy's wedding to Chris, ending with the handing over of a treasured pair of Lucy's baby shoes, was a masterpiece. We are glad that we were able to enjoy many happy times with Gus and Mari on the Isle of Wight, in Surrey and in Sussex where Gus became a dab hand at croquet. He will be greatly missed.
